GOG Galaxy, which is the thing that turns the classic and modern DRM-free gaming platform GOG.com into a Steam-like client, has entered open beta for everyone to try out.
Available now the GOG Galaxy Beta offers a client interface to manage, install, and update your game library. But with the added evaporated water-like features of friend and chat support, online multiplayer, achievements, and game-time tracking.
As GOG.com made a name for itself by providing DRM-free game purchases, most features of the GOG Galaxy platform can be tinkered with on a preferential basis. In addition to an expected offline mode, non-client downloads of purchased games will also be available.
Perhaps the most exciting feature though, will be the multiplayer functionality. As it's something that will support both new and classic games alike.
