Codemasters has announced that DiRT Rally, their newest entry in the long-running DiRT series, is now available on Steam Early Access.
Launching initially with 17 classic and current cars and 36 challenging stages spread across three very different real world environments, the team will be adding regular free updates featuring more vehicles, locations and game modes as they build a new, exciting breed of focussed and challenging off-road racing.
Globally renowned for delivering realistic, yet fun, driving games, Codemasters is once more bringing its talent and experience to the world of rallying. With DiRT Rally, the team wanted to take off-road racing to a new level of realism, so tore up its previous pace notes and completely rebuilt the physical simulation and driving models to truly capture the feeling of each individual car as it hurtles along a variety of surfaces in different conditions.
Watch the gameplay trailer for DiRt Rally embedded below.
Hey I'm all for a total gymkhana game for those who want it but having to do that crap mixed in with the rally stuff, to unlock other rally stuff, grinds my gears. I buy a game called "dirt" to race in the dirt, not get sidwahz around some witches hats.

edit: $31.49 US for an early access game? haha get lost.

i thought the gymkana stuff was ok for single player warm up ... but multiplayer it was just smash-em up derby which got old really fast.
