The zombie is an ever-lumbering defining icon in popular culture. They don't die, eat fresh brains, never bath and have zero personality, yet somehow manage to bring out the best in our storytelling and character, and so in celebration of this AusGamers is dedicating a week of coverage around the most enduring star in modern entertainment.

There's plenty to talk about, too. With the success of properties ranging from Resident Evil and Left 4 Dead to The Walking Dead and even Game of Thrones (let's face it, the White Walkers are basically zombies) we decided we'd take an in-depth look throughout the week at the zombie phenomenon, with a gaming focus.

But it's also an opportunity for you to input your own zombie ideas and experiences -- have they come too far? Should the base lore change? Do we need more, or less? And where are dinosaur zombies? Seriously, where are they?

So keep an eye out for zombie-specific features throughout the week alongside the usual news, reviews, interviews and more and please inject yourself into the conversation even if just to prove you're not a mindless brain-hungry potential piece of fuel or swaggering target :P
