DreamHack Melbourne represents the first time the festival will hit our shores, and it’s on track to become Australia’s requisite gaming event of the year.
After an incredible $2.6 million effort in their first eSports Season that saw North American team Cognitive Prime go home with a whopping $1.3 million in cash, Hi-Rez Studios has today brought forth the long-awaited Season 2 changes to their MOBA title Smite, and boy are the changes extensive.
One of the major changes coming in today's Season 2 patch is an all-new take on the Conquest mode, with the map receiving a complete makeover. With a completely new visual design that better insinuates the battle of the god, the Conquest map will provide players with a fresh start to the season. Player navigation changes, improved immersion and creature interactions, a refined jungle and new gameplay rules have all been implemented in the Conquest map makeover, which you can check out in action below.
It isn't just Conquest that's getting a shake up, with a variety of "general" gameplay changes coming to the game today. These include jungle camp changes, Titan tweaks, lane mechanics, god changes and more. Also featured in the patch is new voice packs, ward skins, new skins and new emotes, all of which can be read about in the full patch notes here.
Last month I had a chance to check out Smite's World Championship in action, alongside the opportunity to go hands-on with the Xbox One version coming out later this year. You can find out my thoughts on that over here.
