After skipping 2014, the annual Minecraft fan convention, MineCon, has been scheduled for July 4-5 in London,
Mojang announced today. Tickets go on sale this month.
At least 10,000 MineCon 2015 tickets will be sold in two batches of 5,000 on the same day, Mojang says. The exact date and time for the sale will be announced within the next two weeks. Purchasing tickets will also unlock access to a discounted hotel booking system.
Those wishing to host a panel at MineCon will be able to submit their ideas in March, while exhibitors are encouraged to contact Mojang at minecon@mojang.com with requests for booth space.
The first, unofficial Minecraft convention took place in 2010 when a small gathering of 50 fans got together with Markus "Notch" Persson in Bellevue, Washington. In 2011, Mojang put its full weight behind the event, and more than 5,000 attendees arrived in Las Vegas for the first, official MineCon. That was followed by the 2012 event in Paris Disneyland Park. The last MineCon was held in 2013 in Orlando, Fla., with more than 7,500 attendees.
