Game streaming and broadcasting service Twitch has announced that it hit the 100 million users a month milestone in 2014, a startling achievement for a service that has seen extraordinary growth since its inception.

Twitch was bought out by Amazon for nearly $1 billion dollars in the latter part of 2014, but the change in ownership didn't seem to slow the service's momentum in 2014; it increased its monthly viewership from 45 million in 2013 to 100 million in 2014.

Twitch also says that it has 1.5 million unique broadcasters per month, leading to 11 million videos broadcast and 16 billion minutes watched each month. At its peak, Twitch also saw 1 million concurrent viewers on the service.

Finally, it helped charitable organizations raise $10 million for charity in 2014 by providing them with a platform to share their various initiatives during the year.

You can check out an infographic of these milestones here.

I don't know if it is just me, but you seemed surprise when you said that "the change in ownership didn't seem to slow the service's momentum in 2014" but the Vice President of Amazon Games said himself after his the company bought out the broadcasting service, that Twitch is doing a good job themselves "Twitch is absolutely doing a great job and we don't want to change that at all," If they didn't or aren't going to change anything, why would viewership go down? :)

Be great if I could, you know, stream.

Can't wait till I get my FTTN NBN in 2025 and I get them sick up speeds that are slightly better than what I have now. 480p is the future!
