Red Faction: Guerrilla, developer Volition's Martian open-world shooter, has ditched the archaic Games for Windows Live service in favour of Valve's Steam, bringing with it an out-of-this-world discount.

Publisher Nordic Games has released the game after a month of beta testing. Red Faction: Guerrilla Steam Edition removes its Games for Windows Live innards and offers upgrades like DirectX 11 compatibility, Steam Trading Cards, Steam achievements and leaderboards.

Originally released in 2009 and published by THQ, Red Faction: Guerrilla distinguished itself from other open-world games with extraterrestrial combat, myriad vehicles, destructible — and, later, vaporizable — environments and mechs. The Steam Edition adds Behemoth Mode, which allows players to wreck the environment with mechs if there wasn't already enough destruction.

Red Faction: Guerrilla Steam Edition will retail for $19.99. Right now until Saturday you can snag the game for as little as $2.99 thanks to the an 85% discount, which also applies to the Red Faction Collection if you wanted any further titles.
