In a move meant to stifle the activities of Steam code resellers,
Valve Software has announced a new policy for gift codes. Going forward you will no longer be able to trade Steam gift codes for at least thirty days, according to Valve. There will be no restrictions on giving these codes away as gifts, as intended.
"All new games purchased as a gift and placed in the purchaser's inventory will be untradable for 30 days," says Valve. "The gift may still be gifted at any time. The only change is to trading."
"We've made this change to make trading gifts a better experience for those receiving the gifts. We're hoping this lowers the number of people who trade for a game only to have the game revoked later due to issues with the purchaser's payment method."
This small change should make it a bit more difficult for Steam users who buy gift codes in bulk during sales and try to trade them for cash - usually for a higher price than they paid for them.

Several Pro-level players got busted recently, and the thoughts are that at least 30 semi-pro to pro- players are using them in qualifiers and possibly at the events themselves. Dreamhack Winter 2014 is about to start, with $250,000US prize money or there abouts.
