Free updates will soon be raining like the in-game loot for Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, that is according to developer 2K Australia. One of those free updates will be the Ultimate Vault Hunter mode.

In a post on Gearbox’s website, the studio said the mode was a “highly requested” feature from the community. Upon release, the free update will allow players to go through the game a third time and reset campaign progress whenever they like.

Yesterday, the Handsome Jack Doppelganger Pack was released as part of the $29.99 Season Pass and is available individually for $9.99 through Steam, PSN and XBL.

Ultimate Vault Hunter is pretty critical, otherwise you can't farm certain items (stuff that drops from main story mission bosses etc), and prevents the bad outcome of needing to avoid every subquest that has a half-decent reward until you finish the game a second time, leading to a lot of grinding to level 50.

I'm sort of surprised it wasn't included in the release considering what they learned from BL2, but it's good news that it's free and hopefully soon.
