Just Cause 3, the third game in Avalanche Studios' open-world action series, is coming to PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One next year.

Game Informer revealed the game as part of its December cover story, which places the game in the Mediterranean. It will feature "vastly improved parachute and grapple mechanics," as well as the same strong focus on crazy physics and mayhem.

Previously leaked screenshots had suggested the game may be taking the free-to-play route alongside microtransactions offerings, however Avalanche has come out and addressed those rumours in a blog post today. "Following last week's rumours and speculation, we also wanted to take the opportunity to address a few misconceptions," noted Christofer Sundberg, Co-founder and Chief Creative Officer of Avalanche Studios.

"Those leaked screenshots were taken from an ancient version of Just Cause 3. Like most games, this one went through an exploratory phase where we looked at different control schemes, different technologies, different business models. Those leaked screenshots show aspects of that process, and in no way reflect the game we are making today."

Sundberg also confirmed the game will not be free-to-play, and will instead be opting for the typical DLC route many games of today's gaming age choose. "Beyond launch, we are likely to look into DLC packs and items as part of our ambition to support Just Cause 3 and its players for many years to come, but until that time we’re completely focused on making the best Just Cause game we possibly can. Rest assured it will be a huge, fully packed and extremely rewarding experience right out of the gate."

Sounds like he's saying, you'll just be paying for the game outright, the traditional way, no subscriptions
