Publisher Activision has just made the decision on which version of Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare you'll want to buy thanks to a new cross-buy option for PlayStation fans and a free upgrade for Xbox followers.

The Sledgehammer Games-developed shooter is now cross-buy compatible on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 according to a new PlayStation Blog. That means that if you purchase the digital PS3 version of Advanced Warfare, you'll get the digital PS4 version for free, and vice versa. The cross-buy promotion also extends to Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare's downloadable content purchases. Buy it on one PlayStation platform, download it at no additional charge on the other.

The offer is only valid for a "limited" time, but that limit is extremely generous: March 31, 2015. The promo also extends to those who have already pre-ordered the game.

There is one hitch though, you'll need to choose which version you are wanting to pre-load as only one can be. The other version can then be downloaded on November 3rd, when the "Day Zero Edition" of Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare goes live.

As mentioned above, Xbox owners are also being treated to a generous offer: a free upgrade for those going from Xbox 360 to Xbox One. That upgrade also applies to DLC purchased on Xbox 360. The Xbox upgrade promotion is available until March 31, 2015 as well.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare will launch November 4th on PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Xbox 360.
