Rift developer Trion Worlds has announced that their upcoming expansion to the MMO, Nightmare Tide, has been delayed following user "concerns."
Though Nightmare Tide was originally set for release on October 8, "great support and feedback from the player community" has seen the launch slip until October 22. To compensate, the beta has been extended until that time, too.
"Our goal is to make Nightmare Tide the best expansion you’ve played," writes Rift executive producer Bill Fisher, "and our new launch date gives us time to batten down the hatches … and blow you out of the water."
In related Trion news, the recent launch of free-to-play sandbox MMO ArcheAge has seen two million players take up arms already according to CEO Scott Hartsman in his
latest blog. This number doesn't include spammers and bots according to Hartsman, which the team have been diligently removing since the game's launch.
"The permanent answer lies in our smarter, learning anti-spam system," Hartsman said. "It specializes in outright blocking the kinds of spam frequent in western MMOs before you even see it. This system is in XLGAMES’ hands and they’re integrating it into the game for us right now."
