After some quite vocal community feedback in regards to Destiny's "broken" loot drop system, developer Bungie has issued a patch this morning for the sci-fi FPS focused entirely on fixing the loot drop issue.

The developer has posted detailed notes on the fix over on the official website. The bottom line is that a Legendary Purple Engram will now always yield a valuable Legendary quality item or higher. Previously, players were often disappointed to find engrams converted into useless low-level items, an issue that has produced much criticism and debate about Destiny's overall loot system.

Rare (Blue) and Legendary (Purple) Engram drops have also been added to the potential rewards for Vanguard: Tiger Strike Playlist, Daily Heroic Missions (first time per day) and Weekly Heroic Missions (first time per week).

i wonder if they realise there will ALWAYS be complaints about loot dropping / not dropping / not dropping enough / dropping too much

haven't they ever read the diablo 3 forums?!

The problem wasn't with the frequency they dropped, it was the fact that you would get a decoded engram of colour x you ended up with an engram of colour y.

It took the fun and excitement out of actually getting purple engrams and rushing off to find out what they are, only to be disappointed.

Yeah groganus hit the nail on the head, loot drops happen as you'd expect but if a purple item dropped you'd rush off to get it identified only to find out it is a green which was controller throwing material lol.
