Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami has unveiled a brand-new gameplay trailer for upcoming horror title The Evil Within, showing off just some of the spooky enemies you'll face in the game.

The new trailer comes courtesy of Tokyo Game Show 2014, and reveals a handful of new monsters. Most only appear for a split-second, but their tendril-laden faces, elongated limbs, and bloody, porous lesions are extraordinarily unsettling and a big step up from recent Resident Evil titles' misguided philosophy that simply adding more tentacles and fleshy sacks onto a creature automatically makes it scarier.

Gold Coast fans will soon be getting their own version of Mikami's horror in the form of a Fright Night maze at Warner Bros. Movie World. Spooky stuff.

The Evil Within is due to arrive on PC, PS4, PS3, Xbox One and Xbox 360 October 16.
