Virtual reality looks to be coming to the typical consumer far quicker than expected, with
TechRadar reporting that we could see the consumer model of VR headset Oculus Rift sometime in 2015.
According to TechRader, the Oculus Rift will follow the way of Google Glass, offering a 'public beta' intended to gauge consumer and retail reaction prior to a full-blown launch. Pricing is still undecided, however Oculus VR co-founder Nate Mitchell spoke to
Eurogamer earlier this month saying that the aim was for the consumer version to be "as cheap as possible", in the range of $200-400.
He explained that a commercial headset would need to be significantly smaller and lighter than the current dev kit, and be "super-polished and easy to use by anyone". Of course, there is also the form of competition now with VR now being developed by Samsung (though in coordination with Oculus), Sony and possibly Valve as well.
Oculus Rift recently launched its Dev Kit v2, complete with infrared motion tracking and an independent camera.

Hoping the consumer kit comes out with the note 4 screen, giving a higher resolution than DK2.

if it comes with anything less I'm not interested.
