Destiny customers who buy the game digitally on last-generation consoles can get a free copy on the new consoles with an offer that runs from now until mid-January, according to the
game's official website.
The Destiny digital upgrade covers the game itself on PlayStation Store or Xbox Games Store, the Expansion Pass (which includes two announced expansions for and the Digital Guardian Edition (which includes the Expansion Pass). If you buy any of those three items on PlayStation 3, you'll be able to download the PlayStation 4 version at no additional cost. The same is valid when going from Xbox 360 to Xbox One.
Those who take up the digital offer will also be allowed to play both console versions at the same time, albeit not the same Guardian characters. The caveat of this is that you could purchase a PS3 version, redeem for a PS4 version and offer the PS3 version to a family member. Bungie has also confirmed that players will be able to transfer their characters and progress from past-gen console version to current-gen.
Destiny will be launching tomorrow, September 9th, for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One and Xbox 360.
