In a recent interview with IGN, Mortal Kombat godfather Ed Boon explained that his team at Netherealm Studios are "going to be reinstating an ‘Ality’ from a previous game", referring to the assortment of different finishing move options that players have been presented over the history of the series such as brutalities, friendships, babalities, and mercy (thanks VG 247).

While it wasn't explicitly confirmed, IGN's coverage is rather blatant with its suggestion that it likely means the return of the animality, where each character could transform into a distinct animal form (Sub Zero as a polar bear, Lui Kang as a dragon etc) and eviscerate their foe at the end of a round.

Mortal Kombat X is in the works for PC, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 for 2015.

Oh god why, that was one of the most awful things they've ever done.

I find it hard to imagine they'd go with that abortion of an idea before doing Friendships. And it was all going so well since they rebooted it too.

Animalities are awesome. Babalities are the worst. I wish the first one had Friendships in lieu of them.

They need to add a mode so you just have to hit one button to activate the fatalities. Trying to pull them off on a control pad sucks. Not to mention if you're not standing in the right spot it wont werk.
