For many years people have been soliciting Tim Schafer to revisit more of his old Lucasarts-era titles, but the response has always seemed to have been locked up in licensing issues. However, today it's looking like the some of the wheels may have come unstuck following Disney's Lucasarts acquisition, as a remake for Grim Fandango was announced at Sony's E3 2014 press conference.
The announcement confirmed a remastered version of the classic adventure title for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita in the works at Schafer's Double Fine Productions studio, and further
Twitter comments from Schafer suggest that it will be making its way to other platforms too:
@TimOfLegend: Talk about other platforms soon! Sony's been a great help making this happen & we're excited to be working with them on the console version!

No game has matched Grim's impeccable music score, voice acting, art direction, storyline and humour. Glad to see we'll be able to revisit it!

I recently bought a old PS3 just to finally play The Last of Us and the Uncharted series, and really enjoyed it.
I've not been impressed by either the Xbox One or PS4 though, and you can't play previous console version games on them last I checked.
Hopefully they do this on PC.
