As sure as the sky is blue, Activision launched a new Call of Duty game each holiday season, and this year's effort will see the debut solo effort from Sledgehammer games, the Californian studio founded in 2009 by Dead Space veterans Glen Schofield and Michael Condrey.
The latest game's PR campaign officialy kicked off today with a few different teases, the first of which is an
official website with an obscured image and a countdown to a May 4th reveal.
Further, Activision PR sent along the video below from the hipster documentarians at VICE which broaches the topic of private military corporations (PMCs), suggesting that the game's setting and narrative will be centered around a dystopic near-future where PMCs have outgrown state militaries and gone rogue.
Game Informer have what is reportedly
a single image from the game as part of the print magazine's next cover feature, showing a couple of soldiers decked out in futuristic combat gear.
Finally, film blog Variety
is reporting that Academy Award winning actor Kevin Spacey is attached to this year's Call of Duty, having apparently deciphered a spectrogram in an audio recording of some villainous dialogue.
