It looks like Diablo and Warcraft developer Blizzard may be working on an entirely new project, according to a recent trademark discovered by
Player Attack.
Filing for the trademark Overwatch, Blizzard has hit all the usual game and gaming-related categories, making it seem like the developer has something they aren't telling us just yet. Player Attack also points out that Blizzard's recruiting page is now hiring for an unannounced project, which may or may not be related.
Traditionally Blizzard has kept well within the Warcraft, Diablo and StarCraft realms of gaming, however that all seems to be changing. Blizzard has previously made multiple comments about breaking smaller teams off to work on new kinds of games, and Overwatch might just be in that vein.
Player Attack points out that recent personal changes at Blizzard in the past few months may also give us clues as to who could be working on this mysterious project. Diablo 3 director Jay Wilson was moved from the loot crawler onto a new project, and former Turtle Rock CEO Mike Booth joined Blizzard in 2013 to work on a smaller project inside the developer's shadowy curtains.
Of course, this all could just be pointing to Blizzard's long in-development MMO Titan, although that was
previously confirmed to have been placed on the backburner for a rather serious reboot.
