The April update for the Nvidia Shield is now available, five days after its planned release date,
Nvidia announced today.
Nvidia originally said it would launch the system update on April 2. The major update brings the Shield to the latest version of Android, KitKat 4.4.2, and adds a host of new features such as beta support for out-of-home use of GameStream and beta compatibility with GameStream from laptops. Also included are improvements to the Shield's interface for managing your games library and buying more titles; expansions of the device's feature set in console mode, such as compatibility with Bluetooth keyboards and mice; and upgrades to Gamepad Mapper.
Check out the GameStream video below to see it in action, and those looking to grab the Shield at a cheap buck will find Nvidia offering $50 for any purchase until the end of month, putting it at just $199.
