Developer Frictional Games, who are well known for their rather spooky Amnesia series, has revealed a very interesting secret about their next horror title, SOMA, in that the game will be taking place deep below the water's surface.
In a new trailer that you can check out below, the long-kept secret was finally revealed after many initially believed that SOMA would be taking place well above sea level, within PATHOS-2 research facility. It seems that facility is still a reality, though its now at the bottom of the ocean.
"Most of the ocean is devoid of sunlight and inhospitable to us," revealed co-founder Thomas Grip. "The differences in pressure between the surface and even a modest depth of 100 meters is enough to turn a human into mush."
"That pressure, that depth, is nothing compared to the true ocean deeps. And as if this isn’t enough, the creatures living there seem like they’re from another world. Gigantic squid, luminescent fish and creatures that are all mouths and teeth are only the start. If you dive down any distance you enter into a realm of monsters."
SOMA is currently planned for a 2015 launch on both the PC and PlayStation 4 platforms, with no other platforms yet to be revealed. Check out the spooky trailer below.
