Australia's very own local Call of Duty team Trident T1 Dotters has found its way into winning fifth place and taking home a prize of $75,000 during the 2014 Call of Duty Championship this past weekend in Los Angeles.
The win has dubbed the team "Koala Duty" by the global eSports community, with Trident T1 Dotters having come out of nowhere to beat Faze - the top ranked team in their bracket of group play - before heading to the Championships. Further cementing Australia’s place in eSports, Trident were the only international team represented in the top six teams, with all other finalists from North America.
The local team surprised all at the championships by winning six matches total and losing only two matches to top ranked Teams EnvyUs and Optic Gaming who placed 2nd and 3rd respectively. The prize pool winning of $75,000 has marked the largest prize for any ANZ eSports team, and hopefully this means further eSports support for our local gaming scene.
