Since Blizzard announced Diablo 3 for PlayStation 4
, one obvious question that has been on the mind of many gamers is "where is the Xbox One version?" Well it seems there is indeed a version for Microsoft's console, though its slightly more complicated.
According to a recent interview with Videogamer
, Diablo 3 producer Alex Mayberry has said that it "makes more sense” to develop for both new-gen platforms at the same time. “The point is we are developing for Xbox [One] and PS4 simultaneously,” he said. However, Mayberry was unable to comment on the current contract status with Microsoft.
Mayberry also suggested that the console release may not be too far off, with the new-gen hardware set to receive their own unique "Ultimate Evil Edition" that will house both the original game and its expansion, Reaper of Souls. At this time though it seems Blizzard aren't yet ready to announce any further information, with Gameinformer
receiving a statement stating that "We’re excited about launching the Ultimate Evil Edition for PS4 later this year, but we don’t have any further platform announcements to share at this time."
