Sony Computer Entertainment Australia has revealed that Gran Turismo fans in Australia have a chance to enter Sony’s GT Academy program this year, which grants one lucky and talented player the chance to become a professional racing driver.
Previously available only to North Amercia and Europe contenders, SCE Australia has teamed up with Nissan to bring the program down under, where you'll be able to compete for a chance to bring your virtual skills to the real world. To earn their grid position, racing driver hopefuls will need to demonstrate their skill and determination to keep their name at the top of the Gran Turismo 6 leader board.
28 gamers will go head to head at the national final, 14 gamers selected from activations at V8 Supercars Championship events and other public events and 14 Gran Turismo gamers from an online package available exclusively through PS3. The top 6 that make it through the national final will then head to Silverstone to compete to be the GT Academy 2014 winner and join NISMO as part of the Driver Development Programme with the chance to complete for Nissan at Dubai 24 hours.
More details are expected shortly on the competition, though NISMO are encouraging eager fans to keep their eyes on their Facebook page for more. Gran Turismo 6 is a PlayStation 3 exclusive, although a PlayStation 4 version is expected sometime in the future.
