If you're creeping around a marooned spacecraft being hunted by an alien, you're going to be spending a lot of time in dark rooms staring at a motion scanner, and that's exactly what you'll find in this latest set of screenshots from Creative Assembly's upcoming Alien: Isolation, the licensed title aiming to go back to the franchises horror roots.
On a decommissioned trading station in the fringes of space, fear and panic have gripped the inhabitants. Players find themselves in an atmosphere of constant dread and mortal danger as an unpredictable, ruthless Xenomorph is stalking and killing deep in the shadows. Underpowered and underprepared, you must scavenge resources, improvise solutions and use your wits, not just to succeed in your mission, but to simply stay alive.

Looking forward to this game I'm a sucker for this franchise.

I'm tempted to play it just to experience how bad it allegedly is.

I figured "can't be that bad"...
Oh yeah was I wrong, 40minutes played I think that's an achievement in it's own right lol

Also bought the last effort for $5 during a steam sale, I actually managed about 2 hours before I gave up.

AVP 'Classic' (1999) captured all the right elements for it's day and is still tense to play so long as you can 'deal' with the graphics.
AVP 2 had some awesome multiplayer modes and attempted to deliver a narrative in the SP game.
AVP (2010) had the looks nailed, and covered off on all the basic gameplay mechanics needed to make it great, but Rebellion had their funding cut /REAL/ short when it's launch really didn't go very smoothly (on PC at least) which really left it high and dry. MP was 'competent' once the game was patched (took around 2 months after launch, but by that time everyone had moved on courtesy of the great 'match-making' fiasco of that time).
As it was covered off on earlier, this isn't so much about looks, this is far more about gameplay mechanics and capturing the tension and feel of the movies (which will be especially difficult if it is to be modelled from the 1979 classic 'Alien'. (ie does this mean there's no 'pulse rifle' [because there's no 'Marines']? and there's certainly no Predator.)

I played the hell out of the original AVP including multiplayer. I have the second one and the expansion and it seems pretty good, but I haven't played it much since I got it many years ago.

Yeah I like that one. Not AvP 1&2 good but decent.
