UK studio Frontier Developments, helmed by David Braben, the creator of the original 1980s Elite space sim games, has revealed today that their successfully funded Kickstarter project Elite: Dangerous has now gone live with Phase One of their alpha to all eligible backers.

Those who had backed a minimum of £200 or over will be able to gain access to the initial phase, which lets users test the game's single-player combat. Other alpha sections of the game will be made available next year as they're completed, and then will filter down to beta backers who pledged less.

Check out the action below in the latest dev blog and gorgeous looking gameplay trailer, and if you want to get in on the action you can still do so by purchasing one of the beta packages on their official website.

He is trying to restrict to only the most serious people. If he let anyone in then you have a bunch of 12 year olds on the net making vlogs about how s*** the game is and how everyone should drop support for it.
