Universal and Legendary pictures have announced that the scheduled release date for the Warcraft movie --an upcoming feature film based on Blizzard's popular fantasy franchise-- has been pushed back to a March 11 2016 premiere, three months later than it's previous December 2015 target (thanks Polygon).

Although no specific reasoning was reportedly given for the delay, Film publication Variety speculates that it's likely due to the fact that the hugely anticipated new Star Wars film has been penciled in to premiere on the same day, December 18th 2015.

If going by US Box Office trends/patterns, March is a dull, no-risk month. It's where you put stuff that you (a studio) don't think will do so well.

In other words, they're making sure there's no chance of any other nerd-attractive property takes their ticket sales..
