Valve are at it again, this time offering up a gigantic patch for free-to-play title DOTA 2 which includes a long list of additions to the game, one of which being the introduction of The Three Spirits, one of which is the revamped Storm Spirit.
Themed after three individual elements, the Spirits all feature set skills around Storm, Earth and Ember. Each hero will offer up a unique playstyle thanks to their aligned spirit, including ultimate abilities that are sure to leave some marks. Valve has been so kind as to include a fancy new website update showing off each hero, so check that
out here.
Of course it wouldn't be a DOTA 2 update without new features being added to the game and this new patch isn't any different. Alongside the new heroes you'll find in-game coaching is now available to all, letting you bestow your wisdom to those in need. Variety of tools are available as a coach including the chance to jump into the eyes of your pupils, seeing exactly what they are looking at. A private communication channel is also offered to ensure maximum teaching.
Crafting and socketing have also been added into the item side of things, allowing players to get more out of their unwanted items. By collecting recipes while playing, you'll be able to craft various weapons all at different rarity levels. Got a favourite item? Put a socket on it and chuck a gem inside to make it do cool things and even go so far as changing just how your courier looks.
Last year Valve introduced Diretide to the world of DOTA 2, and this year is no exception (except a bit late for Halloween). Gather your friends and try out the themed map through to November 28th.
For the full list of changes, additions and all other tweaks storm your way through to the
official website which includes some lovely background information on just who the Three Spirits are.

If people build the wrong item it doesn't necessarily mean the game is over or that they are noobs, just means they have to get another item. I played some IXDL games, and they are the closest thing to pro than actually being pro (much better organised than Very High tier MMR games), and the game is completely different to pubs. You make a mistake in one of those games and it kinda f**** you up hardcore. Make a mistake in pubs and it's no biggy, you can always come back.
I've found laning way more exciting now.
What's most annoying is they throw this update out and now you can't find the dota 2 network! I want to craft my phat loot.

You've said before - you like the mute button. Use it and problem solved. If your mate is that good with tiny then im sure he could manage despite the supposed changes this guy was going on about. I certainly think its stupid to expect everybody to know every little detail that was in the patch but i think the tranquil boots was probably the most significant changes to affect the most heroes and not knowing that can really change early game.
Yeah i was trying to think what changes had been implemented.
Depends how close the game is IMO. In a closely matched game, a wrong early game item can mean a big loss of exp/gold thru deaths or lack of farm which then makes the rest of the game more difficult for that player and team.
1 game i had an axe go tranquil boots only to realise they didnt work and his farm got f***ed making it basically 4v5 and another game PL got tranquil boots and was stomped in lane and end game was out carried. Now maybe the PL player was the issue and not the tranquil boots but IMO both cases the wrong item really had a significant impact early game.
Thats about the only 2 games ive played since the update.
Safe lane / offlane for sure. I always hated the lane pulling aspect of the game. And offlane is safer plus more able to gank the opposition.

Yeah, they are generally the worst person on the team too. It's hard not to get mad sometimes in Dota, but if you just compliment people on good plays and team fights it generally lifts the mood and morale of the team.
I think another awesome change is that low prio/mute ban is no longer time based. It's game based. No longer can you dodge it by going on an alt account and just waiting it out.

Yeah. You can start a private game and invite people. You can also choose to include bots to play with or against and of different difficulty levels. I taught my bro and a mate HoN by playing numerous 1v1 games until they got the mechanics down pat. Its easy if you can talk thru the game in real time on the phone or some kinda voice chat online.
See above. Also, I would suggest learning the basics then playing a f***tonne of games against bots so you at least know the heroes the bots use and how to play with and against. Read guides and probably pick support for pub games. Dont pick carry or else the team will rely heavily on you to win. Admit you are new (so they have realistic expectations) and ask for item suggestions (so that 2 people dont build the same f*****g item by accident), what hero to pick etc. I would much rather know a team mate playing say lina is noob so that i dont rely heavily on them or their hero's skills. Also a quick apology if you f*** up (miss a stun, block a hook etc) goes a long way. Finally, you will probably start out in matchmaking with other new players who will all pick carry and think they f*****g rock. Expect f***wits with rage so mute, report and move on.
Voice comm f*****g rocks for that. I still use quick binds for miss calls and other binds but its so much easier tactically if somebody with a mic plays as team leader for the 'hive mind' effect rather than the team doing their own thing.
