Microsoft has revealed that their free giveaway program for Xbox Live Gold subscribers is here to stay for those on Xbox 360, confirming the permanent decision through their official Xbox blog.

"Whether they are blockbuster AAA or popular arcade titles, Games with Gold continues to offer a diverse mix of games with two free Xbox 360 titles a month – yours to keep and at no additional cost. According to recent surveys, 97 percent of participating members have given their stamp of approval for Games with Gold, and we’re excited to continue bringing you great games every month as part of our ongoing commitment to providing great value on Xbox 360."

Those who may not know exactly what the program is, Microsoft previously announced at E3 2013 that two free games would be offered every month to Xbox Live Gold members, starting on the 1st and 16th of each month. This month's offerings included Might & Magic Clash of Heroes (October 1st to October 15th) and Halo 3, which is still available until October 31st.

Hopefully the future will see Microsoft's program match Sony's PlayStation Plus membership, which is now required for online play on the PlayStation 4 and offers a number of free titles every month.

Whoop: No. They keep working permanently. Except for any online multiplayer component that requires a gold account.
