Pinkerton Road, the indie studio founded by acclaimed adventure game developer Jane Jenson has announced plans to revamp the original Gabriel Knight game, Sins of the Fathers, for the series' 20th anniversary, having obtained the license from Activision.
Over the years, Jane has never stopped thinking about Gabriel Knight. She even spoke to the license-holders (first Vivendi, then Activision) about reviving the series several times. In the spring of 2012, Jane launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund Moebius, the first adventure game being developed by her new indie studio, Pinkerton Road. This, along with many classic adventure game brands coming back into the limelight, caught the attention of some people at Activision, and they reached out to Jane about Gabriel Knight. The end result was a licensing agreement that’s allowing Jane to revive her creation for a new gaming era.
A detailed FAQ on a new official website gabrielknight20th.com goes further to explain that the developer hopes that the revamp will "engage a new audience and carry the series forward".

The revamp will be built on Unity 3D and include new artwork, music and voice acting, and tweaks to some gameplay content that was problematic in the original. A small gallery of concept images can be found here.

The Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers 20th anniversary edition is planned for a mid-2014 release as a digital download for PC, Mac, iPad, and Android

Hell yes, this is fantastic news. I've wanted to re-play this for quite some time, but the chances of it running on Windows 8 are slim to none.

Wait, new voice acting? Hm, that's not ideal. Remember that the original was voiced by Tim Curry, Mark Hammill, Leah Remini, Michael Dorn amongst others.

One of my favourite series. I hope this leads to a 4th game if Activision let her do it.
