When promoting Assassin's Creed games, Ubisoft generally talks up the dynamic gameplay, historical authenticity, and characters and narrative, but doesn't often get too technical. That trend gets bucked today with a new trailer narrated by producer Sylvain Trottier, describing some of the graphics and physics that the team has implemented in the in-house AnvilNext engine for this latest outing.

Realistic ocean waves and shallow water effects, an intricate lighting system that affects an equally intricate weather system, and lush foliage enhancements all work toward creating a more immersive Caribbean environment, and the game's signature parkour feats get a new level of complexity as the player can dynamically transition from one moving ship to another.

It's all in the new trailer which you can watch below. Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag is due on October 31st 2013 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii U, with PC to follow in November, and PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions also in production.
