Codemasters has revealed that their upcoming annual racing title F1 2013 will not be receiving the usual "VIP Pass Activation System", an alternative to the usual online pass system that we've seen other multiplayer titles utilise. It is unclear whether Codemasters will be dropping this system for good, or whether it will only be gone from F1 2013.
“We recently reviewed the VIP Pass activation system and took the decision not to include it in either F1 2013 and F1 2013: Classic Edition,” said Codemasters to
MCV (via
Games.On.Net).
“Players will not be required to activate multiplayer functionality via a VIP Pass code and we have no plans to replace the pass with an alternative paid-for activation system in the game when it launches this October.”
With Electronic Arts recently dropping their online pass requirements from new titles, hopefully this means that the once not-so-loved system has now met its way with the Dodo.
F1 2013 will be available for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on October 4th.
