Massive Chalice, the second crowdfunding venture from beloved indie studio Double Fine has completed its Kickstarter run with a funding total of US$1,229,015 from some 31,774 backers.
The project had an initial goal of $725K, which was met during its first week. No specific stretch goals have been outlined as a use for the additional funds, but Double Fine remains heavily engaged with the backer community to shape the game's development.
Massive Chalice is due in September 2014, DRM-free on PC, Mac and Linux, and is being developed in parallel with Broken Age, the studio's original crowdfunded title that was previously known as Double Fine Adventure.
If you missed out on the campaign, a number of so-called "Slacker Backer" options are still available via Paypal or Bitcoin contributions at the
game's official website.
