Polygon are reporting that publishing giant NCSoft has revealed during a recent earnings report that an expansion is currently underdevelopment for ArenaNet's Guild Wars 2 MMO.

During the earnings conference call the publisher confirmed that the developer is "preparing an expansion pack" despite recent reports suggesting that wasn't the case. As early as March of this year ArenaNet suggested that while an expansion was on the plate for the future, no such thing was currently being developed. No other details were revealed.

According to NCSoft's earnings report, Guild Wars 2 made up 21 percent of sales during their first quarter of 2013, with the original Lineage making up 28 percent. Aion was listed at 16 percent and Blade and Soul made up nine percent of sales.

While Guild Wars 2 might be seeing an expansion sometime soon, the team at ArenaNet are continuing with their live content updates with the launch of the Secret of Southsun earlier today. The new content will have you partner with Inspector Ellen Kiel of the Lionguard as you try to uncover the source of the mysterious animal attacks on Southsun Cove.

It would have to be the smallest and crappiest content patch in any mmo i have ever played. What a waste of time. It basically just 3 quests. The same quest/event repeats in multiple areas and two other ones that are boring as all hell. The only good thing about this patch? The flower back and tencle back piece. When the highlight is a piece of graphic for a backslot, its sad.

You do know that these content updates go over an entire month correct? The last one, Flame & Frost, went over an entire month and included several new hearts, a new dungeon, new gear, new enemies and new zones.

What Eorl said..... IMO Anet are doing an amazing job as far as MMO content goes. Yet to see a MMO release new content as fast and thick as Anet has done with it's content, at least not without a monetary value to it. What seems insignificant in these updates still far outway alot of stuff I see in other AAA MMOs like WoW.
