The previously touted Wii U Virtual Console has now been made available on all consoles (thanks ShackNews), offering a handful of nostalgia-ridden games to boot. Included in the launch list is F-Zero, Kirby's Adventure and of course Super Mario World.
Balloon Fight (NES)
Donkey Kong, Jr. (NES)
Ice Climber (NES)
Kirby’s Adventure (NES)
Super Mario World (SNES)
The virtual versions will support off-TV play on the GamePad, Miiverse community support and also the ability to create instant save states. Nintendo has stated that "people who have already downloaded these games to their Wii System can transfer them to their Wii U consoles and play them in Wii Mode at no charge." However the comapny has also outlined that "to upgrade and take advantage of the improved Wii U features, they can purchase them at the special discount price of just $1 for NES games and $1.50 for Super NES games."
Nintendo also announced last week during their Direct Conference that other titles like Super Metroid will be joining the list but also several Nintendo 64 and Game Boy Advance games at a later stage. Nintendo has also confirmed that EarthBound will be making its way to the Virtual Console later this year. Check out the sizzle reel below.
