According to unnamed sources speaking to
Kotaku, the recently revealed Batman: Arkham Origins prequel to Rocksteady's Arkham Aslyum and Arkham City may have optional multiplayer. The tipster revealed that the multiplayer aspects will allow you to control "a member of Joker or Bane's gang while trying to take down Batman and Robin."
Those villains available for play include Killer Croc, Deadshot, Firefly, Black Mask, Deathstroke, and "some kind of Electroman character," with each one being customisable. No other details were revealed, however we'll be expecting more come E3 and beyond when we get closer to the release. Hopefully if multiplayer is added to the prominent single-player franchise it is done in a way that doesn't detract from the story.
Batman: Arkham Origins was revealed
earlier this month in an issue of GameInformer, where a 3DS and Vita prequel was also announced; Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate. Both titles are expected on October 25, 2013 with Arkham Origins coming out for Wii U, PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

sounds like it will probably be s*** - as long as it doesn't detract from the single player game at all i don't really care though

Oh well, hopefully Rocksteady are working on another epic game that we'll get after this filler one.

I would have said the same thing about Mass Effect 3 before it came out. Still, a lot of people enjoy the multiplayer.

Multiplayer Just Cause would be awesome. Shutup.
If multiplayer is just you are batman in an open world with other batmen flying around kicking guards flipping each other off and being badasses then that'd be fine.
I don't like how assassins creed decided it wanted competitive play.
They should have taken the open world thing and just let you be badasses with your friends "Hey man lets go create a massacre!" I know i sure did by myself sometimes. Just create body piles around to see people walk up go "Oh no there's a murderer afoot!" and then stare, then get bored and walk through the bodies.
Multiplayer can be fine. But it needs to not try and be competitive. Balance = f***tons of time. And a game developed around multiplayer works on mechanics that work In multiplayer which are fun because of multiplayer. Mechanics developed in single player games haven't been linerally translatable to multiplayer since quake 1.
