Joystiq is reporting that up to forty full-time employees at the High Moon Studios have been laid off today after completing work on upcoming comic book title Deadpool. It is not known who exactly was laid off however a Activision spokesman had this to say:
"Activision Publishing consistently works to align its costs with its revenues – this is an ongoing process," Activision says. "With the completion of development on Deadpool, we are taking a reduction in staff at High Moon Studios to better align our development talent against our slate. Approximately, 40 full-time employees will be impacted globally. We are offering those employees who are impacted outplacement counseling services."
While an industry standard when completing large projects, it obviously isn't the greatest feeling when you have completed a project as big as Deadpool. No reports yet as to whether this will affect the future Transformers development that High Moon Studios are known for.
