Destiny, the ambitious decade-long project from Halo creators, Bungie, has been officially announced for Sony's newly revealed PlayStation 4.

Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg and Bungie's Jason Jones enthusiastically made the announcement of the developer's first foray onto another console outside of Xbox and also showed a few new snippets of in-game footage, including a weapon actually firing.

No other details emerged other than the game being available for both PS3 and PS4 and that the team were building exclusive PlayStation launch content that won't be found anywhere else.

For more on Bungie's Destiny, check out our recent reveal feature from our very own trip out to the Seattle-based studio.
