The
Kickstarter pledge drive for Spicy Horse's hopeful action RPG came to a close over the weekend, scraping over the line with it's initial US$200,000 goal in the final two hours of the campaign.
Unlike most games funded on Kickstarter, Akaneiro is already free-to-play playable, with the crowdfunding intended to support the completion of additional features, such as co-operative multiplayer, crafting and porting the game to Linux, and Android and iOS tablet devices, in additional to its current PC and Mac OS offerings.
Pledges fell short of any possible stretch goals, which included porting to the upcoming OUYA console, additional content expansions, and a PvP arena mode. However, a closing updates from Spicy Horse founder American McGee, and Community Manager Kelly Heckman explain that they still hope to see the game on OUYA, but "keep a dedicated team on the project right now".
Those who missed the pledge drive but still want a shot at the backer rewards can still throw some coin their way via
this PayPal site, and anyone can play the game in its launch form via the official website
