Disney has revealed that recent changes to their games department has caused Warren Spector's Junction Point studio to close. The developer was behind the recent Epic Mickey series, with Disney stating that "these changes are part of our ongoing effort to address the fast-evolving gaming platforms."
It was with much sadness that we informed our teams today of changes to our Games organization, which include the closure of Junction Point Studios. These changes are part of our ongoing effort to address the fast-evolving gaming platforms and marketplace and to align resources against our key priorities. We’re extremely grateful to Warren Spector and the Junction Point team for their creative contributions to Disney with Disney Epic Mickey and Disney Epic Mickey 2.
The developers most recent title, Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two scored reasonably well with AusGamers (
7.3/10) but has apparently sold very little, taking in only
529,000 sales in the US. Hopefully those who have been affected by the closures are able to get back on their feet swiftly.
