Continuing the American seasonal traditions, the infamous Halloween will be gracing its presence on Funcom's latest MMO, The Secret World. The event will be included in the third content update, titled The Cat God, and will feature new storyline, characters and a special secret society competition for players.
For a massively multiplayer online game based on myths, legends and mysteries, many would say that Halloween is The Secret World's Christmas. As such the developers have pulled out all the stops to make sure this is a seasonal event to be remembered!
The Halloween event is part of Issue #3: The Cat God, the third content update in The Secret World's ambitious post-launch update plan. Besides Issue #3, the team has already released two major content updates since launch in July, adding new weapons, missions, areas and all new gameplay mechanics to the game. With Issue #3 out the door, the team is already hard at work wrapping up Issue #4: Big Trouble in the Big Apple which will include the first raid set in a monster-ridden New York City. The team remains fully committed to supplying The Secret World's playerbase with fresh, exciting updates on a regular basis.
In the unique Halloween event which went live yesterday, players must pursue a challenging storyline that will take them back to the wondrous Stonehenge where they must face off against the Cat God himself. Though everything is true, the truth is often not what it appears. The real truth is yours to discover. Of course, Halloween would be nothing without costumes, and in The Secret World players will not be able to dress up as a pretty princess, a pillaging pirate and much more with all new costumes available in-game.
Funcom has released a trailer detailing what to expect in the modern-day MMO's seasonal event which you can check out below.
