Pre-orders for the the hotly anticipated Borderlands 2 have
opened over on Steam, and to celebrate, Gearbox are reportedly offering
10% off for owners of the original Borderlands, if they front up the cash before this weekend is out.
The Australia Tax isn't too nasty on this one either, with the price currently sitting at US$69 on Steam if you're visiting from an Aussie connection and US$59 for North Americans.
Further, if you don't already own the original Borderlands,
that's on sale too, at only US$7.49 (versus US$4.99 for North America Steam users).
A new era of shoot and loot is about to begin. Play as one of four new vault hunters facing off against a massive new world of creatures, psychos and the evil mastermind, Handsome Jack. Make new friends, arm them with a bazillion weapons and fight alongside them in 4 player co-op or split-screen on a relentless quest for revenge and redemption across the undiscovered and unpredictable living planet.
Borderlands 2 is due on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in Australia on September 21st 2012 (two days after the US launch, according to Steam).

How hard is it to do a little googling to find some nondiscriminatory pricing for Australians before posting? Reported to media watch for lazy journalism.

Also, I forgot to mention, for those of you who've not used GMG before, they do host their own internal game client, but they also sell games for steam specifically (I've bought Duke Nukem Forever and Deus Ex: HR from them without a hitch.)
Just remember to have a squiz for the mention of steam as you're shopping, and also, if you aren't a GMG member, using this referral code you can accrue some credit for your next GMG Purchase!

Whilst a lot of games become available for pre-order on steam daily and yes not all get a news article, this one was highlighted for a few reasons... Boarder lands is popular... giving customers a discount if they have the first game is unique.
Don't be a tool.

This serves purely as an ad for a service which charges people more because they are from Australia.
You make it sound as though I'm overly agitated, if that were the case I doubt I'd be making jokes like reporting it to Media Watch. I don't see why calling them out on this is a bad thing or why we shouldn't hold them to a high standard just because it's a free service.
Ausgamers in the past have had articles about discriminatory pricing so it strikes me as odd that they would give Steam free advertising while doing exactly that. Surely it's not asking too much for them to seek a few alternatives before posting?
