All eyes might be on Blizzard's blockbuster Diablo III right now, but the action RPG genre still has plenty of room for newcomers. The original Diablo games helped establish the action RPG genre, but in that 11 year hiatus surprisingly few games stepped up to help fill the void.

We'll be playing Diablo III right along with every other PC and Mac gamer, so this is in no way a dig at the big red guy. But in the shadow of May 15th's big budget return to the depths of hell, we thought it might be nice to take a moment to highlight some of the smaller upcoming titles in the action RPG genre: Torchlight II, Grim Dawn, R.A.W. Realms of Ancient War, Path of Exile, Dungeonland, Krater and Umbra.

Good article guys. Have been following Grim Dawn quite closely being a huge fan of Titan Quest, nice and gritty. Just good to see that developers are pouring their hearts and souls into these games. You may not like Blizzard games but the are fantastic for setting standards for their genres which we as gamers get the benefit from.
