Yesterday's news of Australian retailer GAME entering administration left an uncertain fate for customers that had paid pre-orders for upcoming games, including today's launch of the hugely anticipated Diablo III.

We've had reports that some customers have received notification of delivery, however it seems some unlucky hopefuls are still in the dark.

Fortunately for them, Blizzard continue to live-up to their stellar PR reputation and are offering affected GAME customers (that can provide evidence of their pre-order and afford to be temporarily out of pocket a little more), a copy of the digital-download version of Diablo 3 -- allowing them to get online as soon as the game activates this evening at 5pm AEST. Here's the juice:
Australian GAME customers with a valid preorder/prepurchase receipt dated before May 15, 2012 can do the following:
1. Purchase the digital version of Diablo III from http://www.diablo3.com now or anytime before May 21, 2012.

2. Download and start playing when the servers go live!

3. Submit your GAME Australia preorder/prepurchase receipt to us before June 30, 2012.

4. Receive a credit from Blizzard, for the amount you paid in advance to GAME Australia for Diablo III. This credit will be applied to the payment method used for the digital purchase.
For more details on how to exactly go about submitting your receipt, hit this thread on the official forums.

WTF this is totally unexpected from blizzard. Geez, it's hard to hate on them when they're covering for someone elses mistake. Well good on them for stepping up.

I don't think it's that unexpected. I think everyone started assuming Blizzard were c**** as soon as they joined forces with Activision, but I think this move and the Valve DotA thing show that they're still very much on the gamers' side. Seems there's still a true Blizzard in Blizzard Activision.

(wrt. the DotA thing, I think not caring if their DotA mod was called DotA but making sure that Valve weren't copyrighting it to the point where map/mod makers in Blizzard games could no longer use the name was another quality move.)
