Movie to game titles have never been the biggest of hits, especially with the likes of the E.T game on Atari that some gamers suggest "killed" the console. Whether it's due to people having already seen the movie and not expecting anything new, or that it just doesn't offer a cinematic experience like the silver screen can, it's a large gamble for developers and publishers.
This doesn't however seem to phase Activision, with an announcement today that a Men in Black video game is in production, and will actually be released on the same day as the new movie, Men in Black 3.
In Men In Black: Alien Crisis, players take on the role as Peter Delacoeur, a MIB Agent in training, assigned to unearth enemy aliens who are planning to destroy planet Earth. With hidden surveillance and stealthy guards on the prowl, players must ambush confidential alien intelligence and stop all alien attacks.
Men In Black: Alien Crisis brings exciting, realistic MIB Agent movements as players shoot, and dodge their way through action-packed levels to escape fierce alien assaults. Additionally, all platforms feature two-player split-screen gameplay and four-person “hot-seat” competitive action for awesome friends and family involvement.
Currently there is only two screenshots that have been released so far, so don't get too excited yet for the chance to shoot some alien scum. Whether this will be a hit or miss isn't known yet, but for now stay tuned for when we get more solid details as well as gameplay footage.
The game is scheduled for a release of May 25th on PlayStation 3 with PlayStation Move support, Xbox 360 and Wii.
