If you haven't played the super awesome Super Meat Boy from developer, Team Meat, do yourself a favour and pick it up. I can't recommend the game to people enough.

And if you can't be bothered grabbing and playing it on Steam or Xbox Live Arcade, Team Meat has revealed they've started work on the iOS version, but that they don't plan on trying to port a "twitch platformer with precision controls" to a touch-screen device because they recognise it just wouldn't work.

"So as some of you know, we have been playing with the idea of porting SMB on the iphone for some time..." they wrote on the SMB Blog.

"Sadly, there was no way of doing this without the game becoming a pile of garbage. There was no way in hell this would work on a touch screen with buttons all over it, Super Meat Boy isn't a game we want to make a sub-par version of just to cash in...

"So, we decided to totally remake the whole game instead, from the ground up!" they added.

Check out the first screenshot of the game in its iOS development form, which looks to further embrace the awesome cut-scene art of PC/console SMB.

I'm glad they're treating the platform for what it is and not just dumping the full game proper to try and make money out of it. There's ways I can definitely see them maintaining serious twitch challenge with swipe controls. Maybe a perpetually forward-moving Meat Boy you have to swipe to jump at the right time or something like that.

I think the idea of a perpetually forward-moving Meat Boy would be a nice fit for the game. It works well on Jetpack Joyride and Serious Sam: Kamikaze Attack.

In the same way that meth destroys it's users, good luck!

Watching the replay after failing 50+ times is fantastic.
