NCsoft and ArenaNet opened up Guild Wars 2 Closed Beta signups last week, and it seems gamers were very eager for a new MMO, with one-million people signing up in 48 hours. According to the results collected, a staggering 4,000 signups a minute were occurring during the peak hour periods.
It is no surprise that the most anticipated game launching this year, an accolade awarded to Guild Wars 2 from top gaming outlets from around the world, attracted players wanting to experience the game from 224 countries spanning all seven continents.
“We built Guild Wars 2 with the notion to bring players together to experience what a true online world experience should be, and we couldn’t be more excited with the reception we’re receiving from gamers wanting to get in and play our game,” said Mike O’Brien, president of ArenaNet and executive producer of Guild Wars 2.
The Guild Wars 2 Closed Beta is scheduled for late-March and will provide players with an opportunity to experience its deep RPG game elements, epic World vs. World battles and inviting social gameplay while helping the team load test the servers.

Fingers crossed for the Beta, and for the game to be great.
Though I'm so sick of hearing "the most anticipated game launching this year" or things along this line. Apparently every game being launched this year is the most anticipated...

GW2 is free to play, so technically they wont be stealing subs.

Nope it isn't free to play, it uses the same business model the first one had. You pay for the game and dlc but you do not have to pay any monthly fee to play.

If it's anything like Tera, should be perfect. Tera relies on heavy timing, but I have had no lag what so ever.
