DICE, the creators of the fantastic Battlefield series, has just released a massive list of changes in their upcoming patch for Battlefield 3. While they stress that the list is still incomplete, there is a laundry list full of tweaks, bug squashing and weapon changes.
Hello everyone!
We would like to share some of the confirmed fixes and tweaks that we have been working on to the Community. Note that this is still not a full update list and there will be more information on this as we go forward.

Also please remember that the content in this list might be changed but of course, we will also keep you in the loop about this. While there still is no ETA on the patch, we´re still working on improving online gameplay for all of our dear community members. So far, this list is for all three platforms (Xbox 360, PS3 and PC)
While we won't post the whole list of changes, as there is a lot, and I mean a lot, you can head over to the Battlelog news post(thanks Pirroh) where you can view every single little detail.

If your in need of advice or need to find a fellow AusGamer on the battlefield, this general thread will get you up and on your feet fighting the good fight.

I would say most of that is good, Now all they have to do is make Wake more balanced by giving the other team a carrier and make all control points neutral at the start.

Hopefully they will add in extra destruction to the original maps as well, the list of changes all seem good, i still dont understand the laser guided missle versus aircraft change though... whats the point in using a javelin/soflam now?

-Laser Guided missiles can now be distracted by Flares.

Oh good. Now no-one will bother with soflam.

-The IGLA and Stinger now lock on much more quickly and disable an attack aircraft in 1 hit, but have significantly reduced range. This should allow Stingers to mount an effective close range point defense, without dominating an entire airspace.

You missed this tho

-Flares will no longer break the lock of a vehicle that is locked on, it will only distract the missiles.

Makes staggered stingers/javs shots more viable, as before you could have 10 guys with stingers locked on, and 1 flare would nullify them all and make them have to wait and re-lockon, in which time the flare had recharged for use again. Good vs chopppers atleast, just depends on the range loss vs jets but having stinger firers spread out 1-200m apart could be effective.

seriously, between flares and the ecm jammer, trying to shoot down air vehicles has been difficult at best.

Anti-air has seemed very challenging. If you don't have good pilots to keep their pilots busy it's hard work. Either there's no javelins or no soflams, and when you put one up it's quickly taken out

I played a game on Noshahr Canals last night where the attacking team had a single hellicopter and were just denying people getting off the aircraft carrier, then they stole another helicopter and it was a god damned waste of time after that.

-Javelin missiles fired without Laser targeting now do more damage to the side and rear of MBTs.


-Laser Guided missiles can now be distracted by Flares.

WTF is the point of a Laser guide then?? FTMFL!

-AA Missiles are more difficult to dodge in Jets, this was unintended behavior that created an imbalance against skilled pilots.

-Fixed several bugs with air vehicles colliding with objects at high speeds and taking no damage.
-Jet and Helicopter collisions should now properly result in the death of both vehicles.

AWww, but fair enough. You could use that to bounce your Jet of a chopper and stuff up its flight. :D

-Added Horns to all Jeeps.

Would be nice if there were more maps with just Choppers or Jets and not both. Can never get anything done in a chopper because I always get shot down 25 seconds after take off.
