2K Games has just announced a new expansion pack for the award winning Civilization V, a long running turn-based strategy that relies heavily on building an empire to withstand time itself.

The new expansion is titled Gods & Kings, and will take the player from founding the first Pantheon of the Gods and spreading religion across the world, to deploying spies in enemy cities to steal information and technology.
Sid Meier’s Civilization V: God & Kings takes players through time as they engage in new quests and global competitions, interact with new types of city-states and master exciting new systems for land and naval combat. Nine new civilizations, nine new wonders, three original scenarios, and dozens of new units, buildings, technologies, and resources have also been added, offering even more ways for players to expand their empire on their quest to rule the world.
You can check out the full press release over here detailing everything new, but this is sounding like it could be a great expansion pack, one that will definitely make the game more fun then it already is.

Check out some of the screenshots below showing off some character art and in-game looks, but make sure you head over to our game page for more.

F*** that, should have been in the original edition. Weak, not buying it.

Custom religion? That could be interesting, provided it's flexible enough.

Wow, late enough. This was the first Civ game i played and was addicted to it when i first got it. Dunno if this is enough to reignite the addiction.

When is 'late Autum'? How much does it cost?

I won't be running out and buying it on release. I don't have time for civ5 at the moment, and the speed at which the game got a significant price drop has still left a sharp taste in my mouth.

I still think Civ 4 is a richer experience then Civ 5. This expansion (which really should have been included in the original, religion and espionage where already in the series) may help.

Last time I played the AI was way to easy to beat.

I will most certainly pick this up on release. I love Civ 5.

As others have asked, is the autumn our autumn or the yank autumn?

Love Civ 5, depending on the price I'll probably get this.

Hopefully it's our autumn.

Having looked at some other news articles about this on other gaming 'sites I think it is our autumn.

On PCGamer it says spring, so it must be our autumn.

Title is misleading. This isn't the first expansion pack for the game. There's been "Wonders of the Ancient World Scenario Pack", "Civilization and Scenario Pack: Korea", "Civilization and Scenario Pack: Polynesia" and several other DLC races.

I know what u mean Tanaka. They weren't expansion packs though by definitio. I guess just a wording gimmick by civ 5 to make some extra cash.

Yeah it's bit silly, but apparently this is the first "expansion pack".
